The printing tradition runs deep through three generations of Burton and Mayer. Founded in the depths of the depression, Burton & Mayer started in 1938 as a letterpress shop in downtown Milwaukee. The original shop had two owners, Robert J. Burton and William Mayer. Each with two sons involved in the business at one time or another.
Fast forward to today, President Jim Burton along with his partner Jennifer Burton-Ziemann carry on the tradition, managing nearly 80 employees, some of whom have been with the company for more than 25 years.
It’s the people who make the business. “Most of our employees can run any press in the building,” says Burton. “I couldn’t ask for any more of my employees. They are an outstanding group of people.”
